Ambert is a commune in the Puy de Dome department in Auvergne in central France. The town lies on the Dore River. Ambert is famous for its fourme d Ambert cheese, its paper mills (the first edition of Diderot s Enyclopedie was printed on paper made in the town) and its circular town hall.
Many outdoor sports are on offer including horse riding, trekking, tennis, carting, canoeing, hot air ballooning. Located about one hour from the international airport in Clermont Ferrand.
